AC repair, plumber and electrician marketing on Google: a 15-point profile checklist
Why the profile matters for technicians
When an AC stops in the summer or a pipe bursts at night, people search on their phone and call one of the first businesses they see. Your Google profile is often the whole decision: the name, the reviews, the photos and a number that answers.
Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, and that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.[9] What you can control is a complete, accurate profile.
The 15-point Google Business Profile checklist
- Use your real business name, as on your board and bills. Google says the name should reflect the real-world name, and unnecessary information in it isn't permitted.[1]
- Choose as few categories as possible, as specific as possible, for your main work, such as AC repair or plumbing.[1]
- If customers don't come to your address, remove the address from your profile and set service areas instead.[2]
- Set your service areas by city or postal code. Google allows up to 20.[2]
- Give a local phone number that you control and that someone answers, not a central helpline.[1]
- Set your regular customer-facing hours.[1][3]
- Set special hours for festivals and holidays.[3]
- Write a short description of what you do and where, within 750 characters.[3]
- List each service, such as AC gas filling, RO filter change or termite treatment, in the services editor.[3]
- Add your website or a booking link if you have one.[3]
- Upload a logo and a cover photo.[4]
- Add clear photos of real jobs, your team and your van or bike; skip stock images.[4]
- Post seasonal updates or offers, such as AC servicing before summer; Google reviews each post after you publish it.[5]
- Reply to reviews, good and bad, from your Business Profile.[6]
- Ask every customer for a review with your review link, the same way each time, with no discount or gift.[7][8]
Service areas for technicians who travel
Most home-service businesses go to the customer. Google calls these service-area businesses: they visit or deliver to customers but don't serve them at the business address. If you also have a shop customers visit, you are a hybrid business.[2]
- List the areas you actually reach in reasonable time, not the whole city if you can't cover it.
- You can set up to 20 service areas, by city or postal code.[2]
Replying to "didn't show up" and "overcharged" reviews
These two complaints come up most for technicians who visit homes. Own the missed time, keep the customer's address and phone number out of the reply, and offer one direct contact.
English
[Name], we let you down on [day]: our technician didn't reach you and nobody called to tell you. That's not how we want to work. Please call me on [number] and I'll fix a time and confirm it with you myself.
Hinglish
[Name] ji, [day] ko humara technician nahi pahuncha aur kisi ne call karke bataya bhi nahi, iske liye hum maafi chahte hain. Please [number] par call kijiye, hum time fix karke aapse khud confirm karenge.
English
[Name], thank you for raising the charge for the [job]. The visit charge and the parts should have been explained before the work started. Please call me on [number] and I'll go through each item with you.
Hinglish
[Name] ji, [job] ke charge ke baare mein batane ke liye shukriya. Kaam shuru hone se pehle visit charge aur parts samjhane chahiye the. [Number] par call kijiye, hum har charge ka matlab aapko phone par bata denge.

Past customers: AC service and RO filter reminders
A family whose AC you serviced last summer, or whose RO filter you changed, is the likeliest to call you again, if you remind them when it is due. Ask at the end of the job whether they want a WhatsApp reminder.
English
Hello [Name], this is [Business name]. Your [AC service/RO filter change] is due around [month]. Would you like us to book a visit? Reply with a day that suits you.
Hinglish
Namaste [Name] ji, [Business name] se. Aapki [AC service/RO filter change] [month] ke aas-paas due hai. Kya visit book kar dein? Jo din theek lage, reply kijiye.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a shop address to be on Google Maps?
No. If customers don't come to you, Google says to remove the address from your profile and set service areas instead, by city or postal code.
Can I list AC repair and RO service on the same profile?
Yes, list both in your services. Google asks for as few categories as possible, as specific as possible, so choose the category for your main work.
What if a competitor leaves a fake review?
Report it. Google lists conflicts of interest as a policy violation and says only reviews that violate its policies are eligible for removal. Reply calmly in the meantime.
Does Vera sell leads?
No. Vera doesn't buy or sell leads. It keeps your Google profile active and answers recent reviews.
