To be alive is a gift and as we have learnt, breathing is a blessing. As the deadly second wave of Covid-19 lashes through India, the intensity of the damage is writ large on social media. Posts, videos, and stories show the desperation of people pleading for beds, oxygen cylinders, plasma or any kind of help for their loved ones. In these tough times, we all need to pitch in.

What Is Hemkunt Foundation?

Hemkunt Foundation is a non-governmental organisation providing humanitarian aid to the marginal. Their journey started 10 years back with a small project of running free schools in 3 districts of New Delhi. Since then, they've taken up more than 12 projects, impacted over 10 lakh lives and onboarded 100 plus volunteers.

Their motto is based upon the most popular Sikh principle, "Sarbat Da Bhalla", which means "Welfare For All". 

What They Do?

The NGO is dedicated to:

• Providing livelihood to the people in need
• Sending disaster reliefs
• Fighting for basic human rights
• Working towards the education of those who can't afford it. 

In addition to everything else, Hemkunt Foundation is providing Coronavirus Relief Aids such as food packages, medical help, etc. to the people in need. But their initiative does not end there.

The NGO has taken up a new project called Oxygen Cylinder Relief where they are giving out oxygen cylinders for free to covid infected patients. 

What Is Project Oxygen Cylinder Relief? 

Not everyone in our country can afford oxygen cylinders. According to their website, "the entire expense of this equipment, every 10kg gas cylinder will cost more than INR 6000 and that's excluding the price of accessories like pipe, mask, humidifier, oximeter and spanner (Upto 2000) we need to make the oxygen cylinder functional."

Keeping the cost, availability and humanity in mind Hemkunt Foundation came up with the project: Oxygen Cylinder Relief according to which they are giving out oxygen cylinders to covid infected patients for free. The aim is to minimise infection and maximise recovery.
