What makes Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani one of the best Bollywood films on Netflix, is that it continues to be just as refreshing on your 20th watch, as it was the first time you saw it. As most of the people who've seen this movie would proclaim, it's surprisingly easy to fall in love with the main characters, and relate to both Bunny's soaring high desires and Naina's comfort in staying grounded. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is as much of a romantic Bollywood film as it is a meaningful lesson, that too without venturing into the territory of over the top cheesiness. Also, you can watch it for free on BookMyShow. Interesting, isn't it?

Yash Chopra at his most visual and romantic, this film is about love that finds you when you're not even looking for it. The dance sequences aren't just performances—they're the language of the heart, expressing emotions that words can't capture. What makes this film special is how it makes you root for everyone involved, even when hearts are bound to break. If you've ever been caught between what your head says and what your heart wants, this film will feel like it was made just for you. I know, the fact that Rang De Basanti is one of the best Bollywood movies on Netflix as well as in general, is common news. But think of this as a PSA for those who are lucky enough to not have watched it yet. Why I call them lucky, is because what awaits is a glorious cinematic experience, a story that tugs at the heartstrings in all the right ways. Rang De Basanti is about freedom, it's about priorities, it's about courage, and it's about relationships. This is one of those Bollywood movies on Netflix, that define the notion of "food for thought". You can watch it on BookMyShow too.

Once upon a time, the genre of horror in Bollywood was full of unconvincing, overly sexual stories. But with the recent releases in the category, we've encountered a lot more meaning, entertainment and stuff that's actually socially relevant. We'd definitely count Bulbbul in the latter group. One of the latest Bollywood movies on Netflix India, Bulbbul is a hauntingly beautiful story, quite literally. If nothing else, watch it for the stunning cinematography, and you won't be disappointed!

6. My Name Is Khan
Director
Karan Johar
Star Cast
Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Sheetal Menon, Zarina Wahab
IMDb Rating
8.0/10

This film will stay with you long after the credits roll, not because it's about terrorism or Islamophobia, but because it's about humanity in its rawest, most beautiful form. SRK's portrayal of Rizvan Khan isn't acting—it's becoming, and you'll find yourself rooting for him every step of his journey across America. The post-9/11 setting isn't just backdrop—it's the gut-punch reality that makes Rizvan's simple message—"My name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist"—so powerful. This isn't just a film; it's a reminder that kindness, love, and courage are the only weapons that truly matter. Bring tissues. You'll need them. A film that dares to ask the hardest questions about prejudice and humanity — and answers them with love, not anger. It's on Netflix, and exactly the kind of film the platform was made for.

7. Veer-Zaara
Director
Yash Chopra
Star Cast
Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan
IMDb Rating
7.8/10

SRK's most restrained and powerful performance, this is a love story that waits 22 years for its moment—and every second of that wait feels earned. What makes Veer-Zaara different isn't the cross-border setting or the prison drama—it's how it makes you believe in love that transcends politics, borders, and time itself. Preity Zinta is luminous as Zaara, and SRK's Veer is the kind of hero you wish existed in real life—gentle, unwavering, and willing to sacrifice everything for love. This is Yash Chopra saying goodbye to romance on his own terms, and it's absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. If you believe in love that never gives up, this film is for you. A love story that proves some bonds are stronger than borders — and more enduring than time. It's on Netflix, and worth every one of its 192 minutes.

Udta Punjab sure has its share of both fans and critics, you know, like most Bollywood movies on Netflix. But take this one with a pinch of salt, and you won't be able to not be moved by the story. Because it's less of a tale, and more of reality. Udta Punjab is gritty, it's gripping, and it's indisputably a must-watch for both Bollywood fans, and the sceptics. The script of the movie is exceptional, and it's of one of those movies that oddly inspire you, even though that's not what you walked in expecting.

9. No One Killed Jessica
Director
Raj Kumar Gupta
Star Cast

IMDb Rating
7.2/10

This Bollywood film is based on the murder of Jessica Lal, a crime that shook the nation to its very core, mostly because of how simple ending a life suddenly seemed. Killed over her refusal to serve drinks past the bar's shut-down time, Jessica's story made all of us rethink the increasing callousness of crime, and this movie sharpens the intensity all the way more. It's more of a dramatic thriller than a non-fictional documentary, but even the played up portions leave us with deep insights.

10. Raazi
Director
Meghna Gulzar
Star Cast
Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapoor, Shishir Sharma
IMDb Rating
7.7/10

Alia Bhatt disappears so completely into Sehmat that you forget you're watching an actor—this is a performance that will leave you shaken. Set against the backdrop of the 1971 war, this isn't just a spy thriller—it's a study of what it means to serve your country while your heart is being torn apart. What makes Raazi special is how it never glorifies the spy life; instead, it shows the quiet, devastating cost of duty and love. Meghna Gulzar's direction is masterful, and every frame feels intentional. If you want to see Bollywood at its most mature and nuanced, this is the film to watch. It stays with you. A film where duty and love wage a quiet, devastating war — and neither side walks away unscathed. It's on Netflix, and one of the finest Indian films you'll stream this year.

There have been a lot of flaws in Bollywood's portrayal of feminist issues, but Pink does a stellar job at making up for lost time. This gripping courtroom drama brings up one of the most unnecessarily muddled concepts in our country, the one of consent. The hands of a clock, the length of a skirt, basically every single element except for what the woman says is held to determine what's okay and what is not. And the authenticity with which Pink explores this and much more, is what lands it in our list of the best Bollywood movies on Netflix. You can also find this movie on Amazon Prime

This movie is awesome. I'm sorry, but I couldn't come up with fancy words to describe why you should watch this movie. Queen is one of those excellent Bollywood films, that stay with you long past you've shut the screen of your laptop. It's unexpectedly humorous and soul-stirring in equal measure, and the one feeling I invariably experience every time I watch this film, is that of being liberated. And I guess that ability to set you free, is why Queen is almost always mentioned in every list of the best Hindi movies on Netflix.

How great is this movie, you ask? Almost as much as the intensity of every Indian girl's crush on Imran Khan after it released. It's a rom-com sure, and even has all the cliches to uphold that label. Yet, there's something magically refreshing about this feel-good Bollywood film on Netflix. The narration is crisp and the story expected but heart-warming none the less. And, of course, there's Imran Khan being unbelievably cute.

Ranveer Singh's Khilji is the most unhinged, terrifying villain Indian cinema has ever seen—and that alone is reason enough to watch this film. But beyond the spectacle and the controversy, Padmaavat is about dignity, courage, and the kind of love that would rather die than compromise. Deepika is regal and restrained as Padmavati, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali creates a world so vivid you can almost smell the grandeur. This isn't just a period drama—it's a visual feast with a beating heart. If you want to see Bollywood at its most ambitious and controversial, Padmaavat delivers on every front. Khilji will haunt you. Bhansali's grandest canvas, painted in equal parts beauty and brutality — Khilji will linger in your mind long after the credits roll. It's on Netflix and absolutely unmissable.

This is Salman Khan's best performance, full stop. Forget the action hero persona—here, he plays a man whose faith and simplicity are his superpowers, and it's genuinely moving. What makes Bajrangi Bhaijaan special isn't the cross-border journey or the comedy—it's how it makes you believe in humanity without being preachy about it. Harshaali Malhotra as Munni steals every scene, and her chemistry with Salman is the heart of the film. This film will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even believe a little more in the goodness of people. It's a reminder that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is help a stranger find their way home. Keep tissues handy. Because sometimes the most human thing you can do is help a child find her way home — and this film makes you believe it's still possible. It's on Netflix, and it will wreck you in the best way.

Sushant Singh Rajput doesn't just play Dhoni—he becomes him, and watching this film is like watching the real MSD's life unfold. What makes this special isn't the cricket or the World Cup victory—it's the story of an ordinary man with an extraordinary dream, and the sacrifices it takes to get there. From ticket collector to captain of India, Dhoni's journey is the kind of underdog story Bollywood does best, but this one happens to be true. Sushant's performance is understated and precise, and you'll find yourself cheering for MSD even if you know how it ends. This isn't just a sports biopic—it's a tribute to dreaming big and staying humble. RIP Sushant—we miss you. Three of India's finest actors in one film, and it's absolute perfection. Deepika, Amitabh, and Irrfan make family dysfunction look like art, and their chemistry is the kind that can't be faked. What makes Piku special isn't the road trip or the comedy—it's how it captures the messy, complicated, loving reality of parent-child relationships without ever getting melodramatic. Irrfan's Rana is the best friend we all wish we had, and his scenes with Amitabh are pure magic. This is the kind of film that makes you want to call your parents immediately after. It's warm, funny, and deeply human—just like family. The kind of film you watch with your parents on Netflix and then argue about affectionately for days — which means Shoojit Sircar got everything exactly right.

Sridevi's comeback wasn't just a return to the screen—it was a reminder of why she was a legend in the first place. What makes English Vinglish special isn't the English-learning journey or the fish-out-of-water comedy—it's about dignity, self-worth, and finding your voice in a world that's quick to dismiss you. Shashi isn't just learning English; she's learning to value herself, and watching her transformation is quietly triumphant. This film doesn't shout its message—it whispers it, and that's why it hits so hard. If you've ever felt invisible or underestimated, this film is for you. Sridevi, we miss you. Alia Bhatt's breakout performance, and it's absolutely stunning. What makes Highway special isn't the kidnapping premise or the road trip—it's how it takes a terrifying situation and turns it into a journey of self-discovery and unexpected freedom. Veera isn't just a victim—she's a young woman breaking free from a life that was suffocating her, and her bond with Mahabir is complicated, real, and beautifully explored. Imtiaz Ali's direction is sensitive, and the landscapes of northern India become characters in their own right. This isn't just a thriller—it's a film about finding yourself in the most unlikely places. If you've ever felt trapped by expectations, this film will speak to you. Rani Mukerji isn't playing it safe here, and that's exactly why this film works. Shivani Shivaji Roy is angry, relentless, and exactly the kind of hero we need—flawed, fierce, and fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. What makes Mardaani special isn't the crime thriller plot or the action—it's how it refuses to look away from the ugly reality of child trafficking while never exploiting it for shock value. This is a film that makes you angry in the right way—angry enough to care, angry enough to act. Rani is brilliant, and her performance is raw and unflinching. A love story that becomes a social film without ever feeling preachy—this is exactly how Bollywood should handle real issues. What makes Toilet special isn't the toilet premise or the comedy—it's how it makes you care about something as basic as sanitation without ever lecturing you. Keshav and Jaya's love story is the hook, but the real story is about dignity, tradition, and the courage to say "this isn't okay anymore." Akshay and Bhumi are excellent, and their chemistry makes the film work even when it gets serious. Zaira Wasim carries this entire film on her shoulders, and she does it with the kind of power that leaves you shaken. What makes Secret Superstar special isn't the music or the viral fame plot—it's about a young girl finding her voice in a world that's determined to silence her. Insia isn't just singing—she's fighting for her right to exist, to dream, to be heard, and watching her journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Aamir as the chaotic ally is perfect casting, but this is Zaira's film through and through. This isn't just about music—it's about courage, and the power of using yours even when you're terrified. Watch it for the girls who are told to be quiet. A film for every girl who was told to lower her voice — and chose to amplify it instead. It's on Netflix, and Zaira Wasim is nothing short of extraordinary.

This film will destroy you emotionally, and that's exactly why you should watch it. What makes Neerja special isn't the hijacking plot or the thriller elements—it's about one woman's extraordinary courage in the face of terror, and how she saved 359 lives by refusing to back down. Sonam is excellent as Neerja Bhanot, but this isn't just a performance—it's a tribute to a real hero who gave everything for strangers. The hijacking isn't glorified—it's terrifying, real, and absolutely respectful of the victims. This film doesn't just tell Neerja's story—it honors her sacrifice. Bring tissues. You'll need them. This is what courage looks like. A film that doesn't just tell Neerja's story — it ensures the world will never forget her name. It's on Netflix, and one of those rare watches that stays with you for days.
